Responsibilities

  • Carrier Relations. Build and maintain relationships with our freight carrier partners to keep on top of communications, deadlines, and opportunities.
  • Corporate Carrier Resource and Support.  Serve as a subject-matter expert for carrier information and carrier/product integration topics.
  • Carrier Specification Translation.  Analyze carrier API and technology specifications and prepare project plans for our development team to use for development project requirements.
  • Testing.  Perform testing of the Order Express carrier data and compliance modules.  This testing will include the checking of rates, routing tables, transit times, accessorial implementations, etc. against the known carrier output.  Testing will also include checking the implementation of the modules within our ShipAPI and Order Express client products.  The candidate will collaborate with the compliance, rates, and development teams while testing the data and modules.  The workload would be assigned and managed within TFS.
  • Testing Infrastructure Management.  Help to manage our suite of test cases using tools like Postman to perform automated and ad-hoc testing to our APIs.
  • Deployment / Retrieval.  Manage the deployment of announcements, data retrieval, and updates for customer systems.  This could involve retrieving data for the support, rates, compliance, or development teams to analyze as well as analyzing/installing system prerequisites or carrier-supplied modules that are needed for the customer system.
  • Customer Installations.  Perform some installations and updates of our software on customer systems.  This can involve staging of automatic updates to be delivered as well as handling manual installations on customer systems.  Access to customer systems would be performed remotely via TeamViewer/RDP/VPN and could occur at times of the day determined by the customer.

 

Requirements

  • Strong English communication skills to work with the rates, compliance, and development teams and possibly customers or carrier business partners.
  • The candidate should have a quality-control/software testing background and interest to enable understanding the software requirements of our applications and the processes required to certify the data and applications they will be testing.
  • The candidate should be fluent in local client software installation processes and application configurations.  They should be able to troubleshoot/research common platform issues that arise when installing client applications.  This also extends to troubleshooting/researching common operating system issues.
  • The ideal candidate should be comfortable digesting and manipulating a range of data formats using data tools such as Excel, text editors, and internal tools as well as process a range of data formats as they will be handling data presented in Excel, XML, text (fixed/token-delimited), DBF, SQL Server.
  • Strong Excel skills including formula-writing and macro generation are required to manipulate data and convert it to the correct output formats.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server is a plus to handle querying and exporting data, researching data and application issues and some high-level troubleshooting of system issues.
  • Knowledge of small-parcel and LTL shipment processes is recommended to help in understanding the issues and scenarios facing customers and our internal teams.
  • Remote access and navigation skills are needed to navigate VPN connections, remote access connections, remote servers/workstations, file transfers, data retrieval from remote systems.
