Software Engineer – Infrastructure & Automation
Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (Hybrid/Remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Mission - Why This Role Exists

As a Software Engineer – Infrastructure & Automation, you will build and maintain the secure, reliable, and automated infrastructure that supports Descartes software products. Combining software engineering, systems operations, and automation, you will improve platform stability, operational efficiency, and development workflows across our on-premises and hybrid environments.

Outcomes - What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12–24 months, you will:
1.    Improve infrastructure reliability, availability, and performance across development and production-like environments.
2.    Increase automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes.
3.    Enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed, consistency, and quality.
4.    Strengthen platform security through vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and secure operational practices.
5.    Develop internal tools and automation solutions using .NET technologies.
6.    Maintain disaster recovery processes, operational documentation, and support procedures.

Skills & Competencies- How the Work Gets Done
Technical Skills
•    Experience with .NET development and automation tooling.
•    Hands-on infrastructure and systems operations (SysOps) experience.
•    CI/CD experience using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
•    PowerShell and/or Bash scripting skills.
•    Working knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, JSON, YAML, and XML.
•    Understanding of operating systems, networking, monitoring, and infrastructure security.

Professional Experience
•    2+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, or DevOps-related roles.
•    Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
