The Implementation Consultant helps customers successfully adopt Descartes’ transportation and mobile resource management solutions by translating operational requirements into practical, scalable workflows that improve daily planning, routing, scheduling, and execution. This role exists to ensure customers realize measurable operational value from their technology investments while enabling long-term adoption and process improvement across logistics operations.
Outcomes — What Success Looks Like
1. Successfully lead and deliver customer implementations on time, within scope, and aligned to operational requirements and business goals.
2. Improve customer operational efficiency through optimized routing, scheduling, transportation planning, and workflow configuration.
3. Configure, test, and deploy Descartes solutions with minimal disruption to customer operations and high user adoption rates.
4. Identify and resolve data quality, configuration, and process issues during implementation to ensure reliable system performance and reporting accuracy.
5. Develop trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, including operations and IT teams, resulting in strong customer satisfaction and retention.
6. Deliver effective end-user training and adoption support that enables customers to independently utilize Descartes solutions in day-to-day operations.
7. Support post-go-live stabilization by troubleshooting application, integration, and operational issues while driving continuous improvement opportunities.
Skills & Competencies
Technical & Functional Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain/Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, transportation operations, routing, supply chain technology, or software implementation consulting.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, transportation management, routing, scheduling, and daily planning processes.
- Experience implementing enterprise or operational software solutions within logistics, supply chain, or transportation environments.
- Ability to analyze customer business processes and translate operational goals into scalable system configurations and workflows.
- Experience documenting business goals, gathering requirements, and delivering solutions that drive measurable operational improvements and ROI.
- Experience conducting data analysis, data validation, and troubleshooting using Excel; VBA/Macros experience is considered an asset.
- Experience modeling current-state and future-state operational processes to support solution design and process improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server, database connectivity, and basic SQL scripting.
- Ability to install, configure, backup, and recover SQL Server Express databases.
- Familiarity with Windows server environments, virtualization concepts, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting tools.
- Understanding of Terminal Services, Citrix, XML, data mapping, and system integrations.
- Exposure to scripting or programming languages such as VBScript or JavaScript is an asset.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot network, application, server, and connectivity issues using logs and standard troubleshooting methods.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.
- Proven success applying root-cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to improve operational performance and reduce waste.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and align teams around implementation goals, timelines, and expected outcomes.
- Skilled at facilitating customer workshops, documenting requirements, and translating business needs into solution designs.
- Experience delivering customer training and supporting change management and user adoption initiatives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote consulting environment while managing competing priorities across projects.
- Ability to travel up to 20%–30% as required to support customer engagements.

This is a remote opportunity open to applicants authorized to work in Canada or the United States.
Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 USD Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only. Factors that may be used to determine compensation include relevant skills, experience, and geographic location. Similar positions located in different regions may not necessarily receive the same compensation.
